Job Title: BAFT - Asia Council Liaison

Reporting Structure

The incumbent will have a matrix relationship with the BAFT office and the Co-Chairs of the Asia Council. The incumbent will be employed by BAFT as a consultant. The Co-Chairs of the Asia Council will have practical authority over the actual support needs for the Council as outlined below

ORGANIZATION – PURPOSE AND STRUCTURE

  • BAFT is the leading global association for International Transaction Banking. It helps bridge solutions across financial institutions, service providers and the regulatory community that promote sound financial practices enabling innovation, efficiency and commercial growth. The association is guided by the following strategic pillars:

  • The BAFT Asia Council is comprised of senior bankers from financial institutions with significant operations in Asia and around the world.  The Council meets in person four times a year to discuss issues relating to transaction banking – including trade finance, payments and compliance, and to discuss solutions for issues of concern to the industry in the region. The issues may drive the need for committees or working groups to be established to execute the initiative, or, coordination with BAFT staff may be required to connect with the proper resources to address the member needs.

 

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • This role is an extension of the BAFT staff (based in the US) in the Asia region to serve the needs of BAFT’s members in Asia, guided by the Asia Council and related committees and working groups established to deliver member needs. This role supports the stewardship, strategy, and governance of the BAFT Asia Council and the broader mission of BAFT.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meetings Management
    • Support the development of the agenda, substance, action and output for the (4) quarterly meetings of the BAFT Asia Council
    • Assist Co-Chairs in developing agenda to serve the needs of BAFT members in Asia
    • Liaise with external speakers regarding contributions and outputs
    • Collaborate with BAFT office as appropriate for input and logistical support
    • Ensure proper minutes and deliverables for each meeting are documented and distributed to all Council members and BAFT staff in a timely manner
    • Follow up after each meeting to identify and progress key actions in collaboration with Co-chairs – taking responsibility for ensuring activities are completed with appropriate urgency

 

  • Strategic Initiatives Support:
    • Facilitate the development, execution and communication of the BAFT Asia Council Strategic Initiatives, including related committee work streams
    • Organize meetings, ensuring agendas, minutes and related documents are circulated
    • Work with Council/Committee chairs to ensure initiatives progress towards full execution, engaging BAFT staff, BAFT members and outside parties as appropriate
    • Provide support to ensure key messages from BAFT global Board of Directors meetings and other BAFT Regional Council meetings are communicated and considered in respect of the BAFT Asia Council initiatives and priorities

 

  • Conferences & Events:
    • Support planning and execution of Forum, Workshop, or other conference events in the region
    • Work with BAFT staff to support preparation and execution of events in Asia
    • Liaise with local contacts within the region to solidify logistics and speaker support for programs

 

  • Other Support Functions:
    • Support development and execution of other Asia-related initiatives working with BAFT staff
    • Support development and execution of Asia Membership campaign – working with Asia Council and BAFT Membership Manager
    • Support logistics related to Asia-based Advocacy efforts (as practical) – working with Asia Council and BAFT VP, International Policy
    • Support development and execution of Asia-based webinars, training and education programs – working with the BAFT Asia Council and BAFT Training & Education Manager


EXPERIENCE



Essential
7-10+ years project management and/or Executive Administrative experience

International organization – Asia base / global



Desirable
Knowledge of financial services / transaction banking

Relationship management
