BAFT Women in Transaction Banking (WTB), in partnership with Standard Chartered, is hosting an exclusive hybrid breakfast networking forum livestreamed from Singapore on Wednesday, May 28 (Singapore)/Tuesday, May 27 (New York). This important briefing will feature a panel discussion on gender equity in the age of AI, led by esteemed leaders in the transaction banking industry representing the ASEAN region. The session will be preceded by an opportunity to network with fellow attendees over breakfast.

Arlene Gan is the Global Head of Global Implementation at Standard Chartered and a member of the Transaction Banking Management Team. She is responsible leading the Transaction Bank’s Cash and Trade Client Implementations. She has more than 25 years of banking experience. Arlene is the Chair of the Transaction Banking Women committee in Standard Chartered. Arlene is also a member of the Transaction Banking council of Bankers Association for Finance & Trade (BAFT). Prior to joining Standard Chartered, Arlene worked at Deutsche Bank where she led a team of Relationship Managers, Service & Implementation Managers and Trade Advisors in ASEAN & Australia for the firm’s Corporate Bank. Arlene also held various positions at HSBC, OCBC and Bank of America.
Samuel Mathew heads up the Documentary Trade Product team for the Transaction Banking business at Standard Chartered. In this role, Samuel leads the team in establishing the Bank’s Documentary & FI trade vision, P&L and capabilities for its corporate and institutional clients. In addition, he is a Vice-Chair of the ICC Banking Commission Steering Committee, is an IBF Fellow of the Singapore IBF and has served in the past as Co-Chair of the Asia Council for The Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) and on Board of Directors of Contour Pte Ltd a Digital Trade Platform. Since joining the Bank in 2004, Samuel has taken on several leadership positions, including Global Head of Documentary Trade, Regional Head of TB Sales – ASEAN; Global Head of Trade Solutions Structuring (SST); Regional Head of Product Management for Southeast Asia; Global Head of Collections and Accounts Receivable product solutions etc.
Minli is Executive Director, Group Transaction Banking, and Head of CFCR Advisory for Cash Management. In this role, she leads the line risk framework and provides strategic guidance on financial crime, conduct and compliance risks across the Cash Management business. With a distinguished career in Transaction Banking, Minli has held several leadership positions in risk management, including Head of Business Resilience and Continuity. She has deep expertise in Product Risk, Operational Resilience, Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Operational Continuity in Resolution for Important Business Services. Her background also includes specialist knowledge in correspondent banking, with a focus on Anti-Trade-Based Money Laundering, Payments Transparency and Data Risk Management. Minli is a strong advocate for fostering a culture of practical risk management, resilience, compliance, and inclusion. She is a founding member of the TBWoMen initiative, driving Diversity and Inclusion within Transaction Banking.
Dr Mohammed Rahim is the Group Chief Data Officer (CDO) at Standard Chartered and is based in Singapore. Mo joined Standard Chartered in 2006 and has spent his career in the data space. He commenced his career in the credit risk function supporting the Chief Risk Officer through the credit crisis using data insights and eventually working for the Bank’s first Chief Data Officer in 2015 as the Head of Data Governance and Policy. Mo has worked in Data Management Compliance before taking on his last role as the Global Head of Data Management and Analytics for Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB). Mo is a keen advocate for continuous learning and completed his Masters in Artificial Intelligence and Business Analytics with the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin in 2023, before attaining his PhD with the European Institute of Management & Technology (EMIT) in September 2024. Mo also holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Surrey. Beyond his professional achievements, Mo is a keen athlete and has represented Great Britian at various marathons. He plays a key role in Standard Chartered’s employee running club which includes organising large-scale employee wellbeing initiatives such as the Bank’s Polar Expedition 2024, which involved 3,500 employees across 45 countries collaborating to collectively travel the distance from the North to South Pole.
Danielle Sharpe is the Global Head of FI Clearing Products within Cash Management at Standard Chartered Bank. She is responsible for SCB’s global FI Clearing product vision and capabilities for its institutional clients. In her role, Danielle drives the strategic positioning of SCB’s FI Clearing business. She leads a team of global product managers covering cross-border payment clearing and cross-currency solutions, enabled by SCB’s global clearing and settlement network. Danielle’s career spans Law Enforcement, Banking and FinTech across the UK and Singapore where she has covered payment products, banking-as-a-service, and financial crime compliance. Outside of her BAU, Danielle is member of the BAFT Women in TB Council, and a Brain-Based Coach with a passion for developing others. She holds a bachelor’s degree and lives in Singapore with her husband.
Michael Spiegel is the Global Head of Transaction Banking at Standard Chartered and a member of the Corporate and Investment Banking Management Team. He is responsible for the strategic positioning of the business, and delivery of solutions across Payments & Liquidity Management, transactional FX and Trade & Working Capital Financing to corporate and institutional clients. He is also a Member of the Supervisory Board of the Bank’s European Hub in Frankfurt, Standard Chartered AG. Outside the Bank, Michael is a Board Member of Singapore’s Trade Data Exchange (SGTradeX), a digital infrastructure that facilitates trusted and secure sharing of data between supply chain ecosystem partners. Michael is a veteran transaction banking and client coverage specialist. His career spans more than three decades across Europe, the United States and Asia where he has held senior management positions in Global Transaction Banking and Client Coverage. Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 2020, Michael worked at Deutsche Bank where he shaped the global trade finance and corporate cash management delivery and was a driving force behind the development and roll‐out of a fully integrated vendor finance solution. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in Banking. He lives in Singapore with his wife and two children.
Mark is the Global Head of Standard Chartered’s Open Banking Ecosystem within the Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Bank. He leads a global team who delivers the open banking capabilities and surrounding ecosystem to enable new business models like embedded banking and embedded finance. The platform offers real time payments, FX, notifications, account services & digital assets to name a few. Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 2019, Mark served as an Associate Partner at IBM Consulting where he spearheaded large digital programmes. With over two decades experience in leadership positions, he has a proven track record of building and scaling digital platforms in financial services. Mark’s career spans across North America, Africa and Asia, where he held senior roles with Accenture and Standard Bank, covering capital markets, transaction banking, retail/digital banking and wealth.

Yes, BAFT will send each registrant an email about 1 week before the webinar start date. The email will include the link to the webinar and dial-in information, including the meeting ID and passcode in case you cannot join online. Dial-in option offers local/toll-free numbers for several countries. You can always contact [email protected] if you have issues logging in to the virtual webinar.
What if I cannot attend the sessions live? Am I able to watch it later?
The webinar will be recorded and available on-demand to all registered attendees post-webinar. An email will be sent to all attendees once the recording is available.
What if my institution or company doesn’t allow me to access the platform?
Please test ahead of time to ensure you can join the webinar via Zoom. Zoom works on different devices – computers/laptops, tablets, and mobile phones. If you cannot access Zoom due to firewall or company restrictions, please check with your IT team if they will give you a one-time exception. Will I be able to ask questions?
Yes, you can certainly ask questions via the Q&A feature during each session. Polling is available in certain sessions and attendees are encouraged to utilize the chat feature as well to dialogue with each other.
