Join us for our first series of letters of credit workshop in India! The BAFT India Trade Finance Workshop offers a fresh perspective on issues affecting trade finance today including regulatory compliance issues at a global and local level, emerging techniques such as international factoring, plus new speakers both on the corporate and banking industry. Mr. Krishnan Parameswaran started his career as a banker and spent more than 35 years in banking industry. He has now been practicing in the field of International trade and finance.

He is providing consultancy service and in house training for corporates in structuring trade products and FEMA related issues to companies such as Adani group, BASF India, HPCL, L& T group companies, Mahindra, Outokumpu – (Finland),RPG, Sun Pharma, Tata group, Tecnimont , Thermax, Trumpf GmbH, Toyo Engineering, Vedanta group, WIPRO and others.

Mr. Henry Balani is currently Head of Innovation, responsible for introducing new solutions that help address client Payments and Compliance needs. Accuity has clients in the Financial Services and Corporate sectors, Insurance, Distribution and Manufacturing firms. He was previously responsible for managing Accuity’s Compliance Group that includes Product Management and Professional Services and National Regulatory Services related to all Compliance Risk solutions.

Before Accuity, Mr. Balani was managing consulting practices with the largest professional services organizations in the world. In his previous roles, he was the Consulting Director (Financial Services practice) for Pegasystems; Client Services Director, Software Group at IBM; Consulting Manager at Andersen Consulting, now Accenture; and part of the Advisory Consulting practice at PriceWaterhouse Coopers.

Swaminathan Janakiraman
Dy. General Manager Global Trade Services
State Bank of India, Mumbai

Mr Swaminathan, is the Head of Global Trade Services at State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Mumbai. GTS is part of the FI vertical of the Bank’s International Banking Group. GTS manages the Trade Finance Business of the Bank across its Foreign Offices and facilitates synergy between IBG and Bank’s Indian branches. SBI is the largest Bank in India with an overseas presence of 190 offices in 36 countries.

Mr Swaminathan, in a career spanning 25 years, has held a variety of assignments including an assignment at SBI’s US Operations at New York. He has a vast experience in the Bank’s Corporate Finance, Trade Products, Retail Banking & Technology.

He is a member of both CDCS and CAMS community.

Vikas Chandra Jha

Mr. Vikas Jha heads the Trade and Supply Chain Product for DBS Bank Limited. With over a decade of experience in transaction and corporate banking, he leads a team of product managers who drive the transaction banking business for the bank. The team has won numerous industry awards including the Best Trade Finance Bank in India, Best Structured Trade Finance Bank in India and numerous deal specific awards. His expertise lies in the areas of Traditional Trade, Structured Trade, Supply Chain & Receivable Finance and Commodity Finance. He is a member of the Technical Committee for Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (FEDAI).

Raghavan Karthikeyan
Chief General Manager, International Banking
State Bank of India

As the Chief General Manager, International Banking at State Bank of India, Corporate Centre, Mumbai, Mr. Karthikeyan spearheads the International Operations of the Bank. SBI is the largest Bank in India and has an overseas presence of 190 offices in 36 countries.

During his 36 years’ experience, he has held a variety of assignments in the Bank including an assignment at SBI’s Los Angeles office. Some of his earlier assignments include Corporate Strategy & New Business and Payment Solutions Group - where he was responsible for the launch of technology based payment products in SBI. He also has extensive experience in handling Project Finance & Retail Banking at SBI. Mr. Kathikeyan is currently SBI’s Nominee Director on the Boards of Nepal SBI Bank Ltd., SBI California, SBI Canada, Bank SBI Indonesia, SBI (Mauritius) Ltd., Commercial Bank of India LLC (Moscow) and Bank of Bhutan Ltd.

Prashant Pillai
Head of Global Trade & Loan Products; South Asia
J.P. Morgan

Prashant Pillai is a Managing Director and the Head of Global Trade & Loan Products for South Asia at J.P. Morgan. He is responsible for spearheading growth of the trade and loan products business in the region, including sales, product management and solutions delivery.

Pillai joined J.P. Morgan from ABN AMRO/RBS in India, where he was responsible for business development and solutions & advisory for both cross-border and domestic trade transactions. Before that, he was with ICICI Bank in India. Pillai has more than 18 years experience and has taken on leadership roles across various disciplines in trade finance including from sales, operations, technology, client servicing, product management and advisory.

Prashant has a Masters in Management Studies (M.M.S.) from the University of Mumbai (NMIMS) and a certification from the Institute of Cost & Work Accountants of India – a professional accountancy body in India. He is also a Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (C.D.C.S) from IFS, UK.

Camille Richardson
Principal Commercial Officer

US Consulate - Mumbai

Camille Richardson has worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce since 1993 with assignments in Washington, DC; Miami, FL; Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and Nairobi, Kenya. In September 2013, she began a three-year tour of duty as the Commercial Consul at the U.S. Consulate in Mumbai, India where she serves as a resource for U.S. companies pursuing commercial interests in Western India.
