Bilateral meetings are an important component of the BAFT Global Annual Meeting. To allow attendees time to participate in the educational portion of the conference and hear our esteemed speakers, BAFT has designated specific times during the program for bilateral meetings. As you plan bilateral meetings, we would like to remind you of BAFT’s policy to only conduct meetings during designated hours only, noted below.

Sereen Ahmed is an accomplished professional with a wealth of experience in the finance industry. As the Americas Head of Trade and Working Capital , Sereen has demonstrated exceptional expertise and leadership. Sereen’s educational journey began at Amman Alahliye University, where she completed her studies in banking and finance. Eager to expand her knowledge and skills, she pursued an MBA in internal Finance from Ashland University solidifying her foundation in the field. With a career spanning over two decades, Sereen has made significant contribution to renowned financial institutions. Tod Burwell is the President and Chief Executive Officer of BAFT. Prior to being promoted to CEO, he served as the Senior Vice President of Trade Products with oversight of all trade-related initiatives including the Global Trade Industry Council, Trade Committees, and other strategic initiatives of the organization. Mr. Burwell has over 25 years of trade, supply chain and cash management experience as a banking practitioner, as well as serving as a consultant to global corporations and suppliers of strategically integrated trade solutions. Ian Laverty is the Chief Revenue Officer at TradeSun where he manages the relationship between TradeSun and their commercial partners. Ian joined the organisation following the acquisition of the CoriolisESG platform in 2022 where he was Chief Operating Officer. Ian has an extensive background in trade and finance, having spent 11 years in banking with Lloyds Banking Group. On leaving the bank Ian spent 10yrs supporting SMEs to grow their export sales, working with management consultancy businesses and latterly governmental economic development agencies, before joining Coriolis Technologies. Within Coriolis, and now TradeSun, Ian has led the development of the CoriolisESG platform, working with a collaboration of banks, industry bodies, partner organisations (including BAFT) and regulators, to develop the only fully automated assessment capability with mapping to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and a number of regional taxonomies and regulatory frameworks.

Patricia Sullivan is a Managing Director and Global Head of Institutional Cash Management (ICM) at Deutsche Bank since January 2024. In this role Ms. Sullivan oversees the unit and teams within the Corporate Bank delivering a wide range of payment, transactional FX and liquidity solutions to financial institutions (banks & central banks) and Deutsche Bank affiliates. Priorto leading the ICM business, since June 2021, Ms. Sullivan reported directly to the Deutsche Bank CB/IB CEO overseeing a global team to embed effective and sustainable financial crime controls and a strong risk management culture in the businesses and worked closely with ICM. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Ms. Sullivan spent 6 years at Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) delivering the remediation and transformation of the US and Global Financial Crime Compliance program. At SCB Ms. Sullivan led financial inclusion initiatives and worked with regulators and policy makers to develop strong and consistent due diligence and control standards within correspondent banking. Ms. Sullivan has more than 20 years of experience in covering ICM, Criminal Prosecution, Litigation, Financial Crime Compliance and Core Compliance. Based in New York, she is a member of the Corporate Bank Executive Committee, Deutsche Bank USA Board sub-committee on Anti-Financial Crime, and the Supervisory Board Financial Crime Risk (FCR)Working Group. As a General Manager, Gloria oversees product development, client success, and commercial growth for Confirm and Route Logic applications. Oz Akdeniz is the North America Trade Sales Head at Citibank overseeing a team of Trade and Supply Chain professionals who work with Citi’s Institutional Client Group (ICG). Throughout his career Oz has been passionate about delivering innovative solutions to Multi-National Clients who operate in complexities of international corporate banking. Oz is frequently a speaker and participant at various industry forums in the capacity of guest speaker / panel member on the digitization of payments and trade. Oz is closely involved with the Bankers Association of Finance & Trade (BAFT) in the USA. He was selected in the Future Leaders program in 2018, and subsequently became a Future Leader Mentor in 2019 and is now out he planning committee for the 2020 North American BAFT Annual Meeting. Oz has also been a mentor for the 30% Club supporting aspiring Women in Leadership in NY since 2017. Previously Oz worked at ANZ Banking Group and Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
