About the Certification

BAFT has developed this on-line training which will fulfill the requirements to earn BAFT’s Certificate in Advanced Trade Finance (CATF). Following the completion of the course, the participant should have a deep understanding of the trade finance business and its various implications across the financial ecosystem.

This is a Level II professional certificate targeted toward individuals who are more advanced in their transaction banking careers or those that have already received BAFT’s Certificate in Introductory Transaction Banking (CITB) and/or BAFT’s Certificate in Transaction Risk for Trade (CTRT).

This certificate is tailored to those working in or looking to learn more about trade finance, supply chain finance, cross-border risk management, and liquidity solutions, with over three years of experience in trade finance. 

Topics Covered: Trade finance, supply chain finance, cross-border risk,  procurement, inventory finance, compliance, financial crime and fraud, sustainable trade finance, digital trade, insurance, deep tier finance, and liquidity.

What You Will Learn: In this course, participants will acquire a general overview of the trade finance business, supply chain finance, cross-border risk, and liquidity solutions. It will help to become familiar with managing and mitigating emerging markets and other cross-border risks, understand the links between supply chain finance and procurement, and become familiarized with inventory finance.

Participants will also learn about secondary markets, insurance and asset distribution in trade and supply chain finance. The certification will also cover an overview of financial crime, compliance and fraud; digitalization in the trade industry; and best practices in ESG, sustainable trade finance and deep tier supply chain finance.

Earn Continuing Professional Development Credits (CPDs)

Participants will further demonstrate their understanding and expertise by earning a well-recognized industry certificate. The certification is applicable for bank and non-bank financial institution staff and corporate and commercial trade finance practitioners.

BAFT’s Certificate in Advanced Trade Finance (CATF) has been approved for:

Mr. Malaket advises top- tier financial institutions, government, multilateral and startup clients around the globe, serving on various industry bodies and policy task forces.

Craig Weeks

Craig Weeks is an independent banking consultant, lending his expertise to organizations in trade finance, supply chain, and transacting banking operations. Craig has over 30 years of experience, with a significant portion spent with JPMorgan and Citibank, where he served as head of Global Trade Sales. Craig is the Business Engagement Specialist with the North Carolina State University Supply Chain Resource Cooperative (and a member of the SCRC Advisory Board).
